Pilates is essentially about re-educating your body, undoing the damage that years of stress and immobility inflict. By repeatedly doing certain corrective positions, our musculature starts to retain a memory of how they feel, and in time will actually adopt them automatically – without us having to think about them. “Correctly executed to the point of subconscious reaction,” Joseph Pilates said, “these exercises will reflect grace and balance in your routine activities.”

Not all exercises are suitable for everyone.  Please consult a Nationally Certified Pilates Teacher (NCPT) to help you modify the exercises for your body.

While honoring the Pilates mat repertoire and its order, I have taken the liberty to modify these exercises for a beginner and pick and choose a few non-Pilates exercises that can help you build strength and control to prepare for subsequent levels.
